Over the years, I have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of war, conflict, and violence on communities worldwide. From the ravages of poverty and disease to the trauma of displacement and exile, the human toll of these crises is immeasurable. Nevertheless, despite these challenges, I have always remained hopeful that a more peaceful and just world is possible.”

Dr. Jacobs-Abbey’s ringing of the Peace Bell was a powerful symbol of hope and unity. The Peace Bell is a reminder that peace is not just the absence of conflict but the presence of harmony, understanding, and compassion. The bell ringing was a call to action for everyone to work together towards a future of peace, love, and conscience for all. Dr. Jacobs-Abbey believes that each and every one of us has a responsibility to work towards creating a more peaceful and just world, and that the ringing of the Peace Bell is a powerful reminder of this responsibility.

Dr. Jacobs-Abbey expressed his gratitude to Dr. Hong Tao-Tze, the founder of the Federation of World Peace and Love, and Mayor Cashenna Cross, the Mayor of the City of Glenarden, for their leadership in creating this initiative. He also emphasized the importance of coming together and raising our voices for peace, as it can build a brighter future for all people.

“Moving forward, I believe that it is incumbent upon all of us to continue to work towards a culture of peace and love. Whether through grassroots activism, policy advocacy, or cultural exchange initiatives, there are many ways that we can make a positive impact in our communities and beyond. By coming together and raising our voices for peace, we can build a brighter future for all people,” Dr. Jacobs-Abbey said.

Dr. Samuel Jacobs-Abbey is an adjunct professor of Corporate Governance at Morris Brown College, a historically Black College based in Atlanta. He is also the Executive Director of the Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies and a Global Diplomatic Council envoy to the United Nations and African Union.
