Government of Samoa and Samsung collaborate to boost STEM education

In a significant stride towards advancing education in Samoa, the Government of Samoa and Samsung Solve for Tomorrow have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This partnership aims to enhance capacity building in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for students and teachers.

Education, Sports and Culture Minister Seuula Ioane Tuaau represented the Government of Samoa, while President Hyung Min Chun of Samsung Electronics New Zealand signed the MOU on behalf of Samsung.

The MOU sets the stage for collaborative initiatives that empower students and educators in Samoa, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills for success in rapidly evolving fields like science and technology.

By leveraging Samsung’s expertise and global reach, the Government of Samoa intends to foster an environment that encourages innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving among students and teachers.

Minister Tuaau expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting its potential to benefit Samoan students and educators according to a press statement by the Samoa Government. The MOU aligns seamlessly with the government’s commitment to promoting educational excellence and preparing youth for the challenges of the future job market.

President Chun echoed Minister Tuaau’s sentiments, emphasizing Samsung’s dedication to supporting educational initiatives worldwide. He stressed the importance of nurturing STEM skills and knowledge, which play a vital role in driving economic growth and fostering innovation in the digital age.

As the partnership unfolds, it is anticipated that exciting projects, workshops and initiatives will ignite students’ passion for STEM subjects. Through this joint effort, the Government of Samoa and Samsung are working towards a brighter future, equipping Samoan youth with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the 21st century.

Both parties are committed to the successful implementation of the MOU and share a vision of empowering students and educators in Samoa through quality STEM education. This partnership aims to build a strong foundation for innovation, scientific discovery and technological advancement, ultimately contributing to the sustainable development of Samoa.
