India has expressed its concern over the devastating effects of two recent tropical cyclones that hit Vanuatu during a meeting between India’s Ambassador Neeta Bhushan and Prime Minister Ishmael Kalsakau of Vanuatu. The Indian Prime Minister, through the Ambassador, conveyed India’s commitment to providing an assistance package of US$500,000, which will be formally announced later this year.
The Vanuatu Prime Minister warmly received the financial aid and expressed gratitude for India’s support. Kalsakau also emphasized the valuable lessons that Vanuatu could learn from India, particularly in land cultivation and product value addition. He stressed the importance of implementing these lessons to enhance Vanuatu’s resilience to future natural disasters, as reported by the PM’s office.
The impact of the two cyclones has underscored the urgent need for proactive measures to mitigate the effects of such natural disasters. Vanuatu aims to enhance its ability to withstand future cyclones and safeguard the well-being of its citizens by leveraging India’s expertise.
By embracing India’s experience in land cultivation and product value addition, Vanuatu hopes to improve its resilience in the face of future natural disasters.
