The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Alumni Network Lagos will on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 hold its Engagement Convention at the Multi Purpose Room of the United States Consulate, General, Lagos. This will bring together members of IVLP to network, reconnect and to discuss issues of common interests with representatives of the US Consulate. Mr. John F. Bray, the Consul General will be Special Guest of Honour and Ms. Darcy Zotter, Public Affairs Officer who will be receiving all guests.
In a press statement issued by Mrs Omawale Ogunride, Interim Coordinator, International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), Alumni Association, Lagos State Chapter, she expressed that : “this convention will serve as a reunion and would launch a Mentoring Project for teenagers in collaboration with the Consulate. This association is undoubtedly a fellowship of leaders that has continued to transform the lives of the recipients as well as having stalwart effects on our professions and communities. Irabor Hon. Abike Dabiri, Dan Okoye and many others. The Reunion event will be a day to also remember the likes of Late Princess Christie Suinner who passionately and selflessly served the Alumni until her death.”
The IVLP is the U.S. Department of State’s foremost professional exchange program. Through short-term visits to the United States, present and budding overseas leaders in a multiplicity of disciplines experience America firsthand and develop lasting relationships with their American counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States.
IVLP participants are nominated and selected by the staff of U.S.A Embassies and Consulates around the world. Each year nearly 5,000 International visitors from all over the world come to the U.S.A. on the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). More than 200,000 International Visitors have engaged with Americans through the IVLP over the years, including more than 100 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government.
