The State of Kuwait recently indicated interest in prioritizing culture and youth in its diplomatic relations with the U.S. This was made known by Al-Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah, the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the U.S. Al-Sabah expressed her desire to see Kuwait’s relations with the U.S. focus on cultural exchange and youth participation.
Al-Sabah’s statement came during a meeting with Abdulaziz Al-Anjari, the CEO of Reconnaissance Research, a leading independent think-tank in Kuwait. At the meeting, Al-Sabah ceased for a moment to speak of her confidence in the ability of the Kuwaiti youths, whom he said have all it takes to bring valuable initiatives to their country. According to her, diplomacy focused on the youth will not only bring gains to Kuwait but will also help deepen relations between Kuwait and the U.S.
She also spoke about the economic impact that youth-centered relations between the two countries will have by affirming that such cooperation will lead to mobility of employment across the two borders.
She highlighted how such exchange will help advance the knowledge of participating youths in their understanding of other cultures, public policies, and international relations.
In support of the various efforts of the Kuwaiti Foreign Affairs Ministry under His Excellency Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Al-Ajnari praised Ambassador Al-Sabah and her culture and youth-centered initiative.
In his concluding remarks, Al-Ajnari spoke about the role of NGOs and research institutes in deepening the initiative. According to him, they can help in advancing and evolving relations between the two countries and making sure that available opportunities are utilized and properly channeled.
In her final submission, Al-Sabah reiterated her commitment to ensuring that culture and youth participation become a core part of Kuwait’s diplomacy with the U.S. This, she believes, will provide special youths of Kuwaiti origin with a rare opportunity for self-discovery and self-development.
Al-Sabah became the State of Kuwait’s ambassador to the U.S. following the acceptance of her letter of credence by the U.S. president, Joe Biden, at the White House in May 2023.
