Lagos Speaker Hails Nigeria China Relations

“The Chinese are people of integrity and of noble character” noted Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly in his address delivered on his behalf by Mrs. Adefunmilayo Tejuosho, the Chairperson of the House Committee on Information and Strategy, and Security (Lagos State House of Assembly) on the occasion of the Chinese National Day event held in Lagos, on Monday, September 17, 2018, marking the 69th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China,.

The Speaker, expressed his satisfaction with China’s improved economy particularly its growing bilateral trade and strategic cooperation with Nigeria.

He recognized that “both Nigeria and China have maintained long friendship and the relationship has grown in a steady way. China is now considered one of Nigeria’s important ally and partner.”

He further noted that having Mr. Chao Xiaoliang, the Consul General of the Chinese Consulate is indeed a blessing as lot has been achieved especially with trade and political relationship.

Obasa also called for increased partnership in a number of areas including Agro Allied, Transportation, Housing, Communication etc.

The Speaker wrapped up his speech with a passionate appeal to the Chinese Government through its not to focus only on the Federal level but also extend its investment plan to Lagos State, following the news about Chinese investors who may be investing a whopping $300 million in mass housing schemes for low and middle income earners.
