Mexico’s new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Samoa, H.E. Mr. Alfredo Perez Bravo, presented his Letter of Credence to Afioga Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II, the Head of State of Samoa. The presentation ceremony was held on May 23, 2023, at the Head of State’s Residence in Vailele. The ambassador is accredited to Samoa and resides in Wellington, New Zealand.
Diplomatic relations between Samoa and Mexico date back to October 2008, and since then, both countries have maintained friendly ties based on mutual trust and respect.
During the ceremony, the Head of State and Ambassador Bravo expressed their countries’ desire to collaborate closely on issues of shared interest that would be beneficial to both nations. One such issue is a bilateral agreement signed in 2012 for the exchange of information on tax matters.
Ambassador Bravo is a career diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with 46 years of experience since February 1976. He has represented Mexico in 52 countries across Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. In May 2019, he was appointed as Ambassador-designated of Mexico to New Zealand with cross-accreditation to Samoa, Tonga, and Tuvalu.
H.E. Bravo has a degree in international relations from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and has studied courses at the University of FRESCATI in Stockholm, Sweden, as well as the School of Higher Studies in Geneva. He has authored three books and published more than 40 articles on international issues. Ambassador Bravo is married with two children.
