The US president, Joe Biden stated that the US and its allies were making every effort to bolster Ukraine’s defences in its ongoing war with Russia during a press conference held at the venue of the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan.

Amidst claims by Russia and the Wagner group over the control of the eastern Ukrainian city of Bahkmut, Volodymyr Zelensky secured fresh military aid from the US.

On the final day of the G7 summit, Biden stated that Ukraine would get military support worth up to $375 million.

He made it clear that the US would support Kyiv’s efforts to defend itself.

According to Biden, the US-backed military aid package would include artillery, ammunition, armoured vehicles, and drills. It will also come with the supply of US-built F-16 jets to aid Ukraine in continuing to resist Russia’s aggression.

However, Zelensky’s attempt to persuade the leaders of non-aligned nations in the Ukraine-Russian war to support Ukraine, namely India and Brazil, was one of the main drivers behind his journey to Hiroshima.

He is expected to cease the opportunity to advance the cause of Ukraine, strengthen Ukraine’s relationship with its western allies and build newer ones.
