The 52nd Pacific Islands Leaders Forum (PIFLM52) commenced in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, on November 7, 2023, amidst a vibrant display of Cook Island culture. Guided by the theme “Our Voices, Our Choices, Our Pacific Way: Promote, Partner, Prosper,” this forum attracted over 600 delegates, including Pacific Leaders, representatives from the Council of Regional Organisations of the Pacific (CROP), delegates from the regional private sector and civil society, Forum Associate members, Forum Observers, and Forum Dialogue Partners.

The forum serves as a vital platform for Pacific Leaders to engage in proactive discussions on critical regional issues, encompassing climate change, sustainable development, and regional security. Moreover, it presents a valuable opportunity for Pacific nations to strengthen their collaborations and cooperative endeavors.

In his opening address, Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown underscored that the forum is not merely an event; rather, it represents a significant milestone in our collective journey as custodians of our Blue Pacific Continent. He emphasized that “Our Voices, Our Choice, Our Pacific Way” is not simply a theme but a clarion call to action. As Leaders, it is our solemn duty to work tirelessly in the service of the Pacific people, safeguarding prosperity and security for our archipelago of islands.
