Princess Lalla Hasnaa welcomes First Lady Jill Biden on historic visit to Morocco

Princess Lalla Hasnaa welcomed Ms. Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States of America, upon her arrival at Marrakech-Ménara airport on June 3, 2023, for a visit to Morocco. They were greeted by notable dignitaries, including Mr. Karim Kassi-Lahlou, the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region and Governor of the Marrakech Prefecture, Ms. Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, President of the Marrakech Communal Council, and Mr. Samir Koudar, President of the Regional Council.

U.S. Ambassador to Morocco, Mr. Puneet Talwar, and his wife, Ms. Sattar Sarash, along with U.S. Consul General in Casablanca, Mr. Lawrence Randolph, were also present to extend their greetings.

During the visit, Ms. Jill Biden, accompanied by her daughter Ms. Ashley Biden and her sister Ms. Bobby Jacobs, participated in a traditional ceremony where milk and dates were offered, symbolizing Morocco’s cultural heritage and warm hospitality.

After a brief pause in the Salon d’Honneur at Marrakech-Ménara airport, Princess Lalla Hasnaa and Ms. Jill Biden proceeded to the distinguished residence prepared for the First Lady’s stay, where discussions and further strengthening of the bilateral relationship between Morocco and the United States would take place.

As the royal and diplomatic entourage continues, the warm reception extended to the First Lady of the United States reflects the enduring friendship between Morocco and the United States, showcasing their shared commitment to international cooperation, mutual respect, and common goals.
