On May 11th, 2023, the Government of Samoa announced that Her Excellency Mrs. Jetmira Berdynaj Shala, the Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Kosovo to Samoa, presented her Letter of Credence to the Member of the Council of Deputies, Afioga Le Mamea Ropati Mualia, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The ceremony accredited Mrs. Shala as the new Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Samoa.

Samoa and Kosovo have maintained cordial and friendly relations since establishing diplomatic ties in 2017. During the credential ceremony, Mrs. Shala emphasized Kosovo’s commitment to strengthening its relations with other countries, including Samoa. She highlighted Kosovo’s success in statecraft since gaining independence in 2008 and its efforts to build stable institutions that safeguard democracy and human rights for all its citizens.

Afioga Le Mamea Ropati Mualia recognized Mrs. Shala as the first Ambassador of Kosovo accredited to Samoa. He expressed confidence that her visit to Samoa would lead to fruitful discussions and deepen cooperation between the two nations on matters of mutual interest, said the Government of Samoa.

Mrs. Shala holds a Master’s Degree in Professional Studies in Public Administration and Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She has held senior positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2008 and currently resides in Canberra, Australia.
