A key element of their collaboration involves immediate defense cooperation, with initiatives aimed at improving military capabilities and interoperability. Notably, the UK and Germany announced plans to jointly develop and optimize the Remote Controlled Howitzer 155mm artillery system, showcasing their commitment to strengthening defense through collaborative projects.

Turning to Ukraine, the leaders condemned Russia’s illegal invasion and vowed unwavering support for Ukraine’s defense efforts. The joint statement highlighted plans to coordinate and intensify military aid for Ukraine, focusing on critical areas like air defense, drones, artillery, ammunition, fortifications, and training.

Beyond defense, the UK and Germany are leading efforts to reduce Europe’s reliance on Russian energy. They emphasized their commitment to energy transition, renewable energy sources, and hydrogen development. The leaders announced a feasibility study on hydrogen exports from the UK to Germany, along with plans to cooperate on renewable energy production in the North Sea, including offshore wind and hydrogen.
