Kyiv hosted a diplomatic reception to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the Italian Republic. The event, which was held in solidarity with Ukraine, was hosted by the outgoing Italian Ambassador to Ukraine, Pierre Francesco Dzadzo. Dzadzo’s term ends in June 2024.
The reception drew representatives from foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine, Ukrainian state authorities, including Deputy Foreign Minister Eugene Perebiynis, business leaders, and members of the Italian diaspora.
In his speech, Ambassador Dzadzo acknowledged the ongoing war in Ukraine, stating that Italy stands with Ukraine in its fight for freedom and national identity. He pledged Italy’s continued comprehensive support for Ukraine at bilateral and multilateral levels, encompassing political, economic, military, and humanitarian aid.
Dzadzo highlighted Ukraine’s status as a priority topic during Italy’s presidency of the G7. He noted that the first G7 Leaders’ Summit under Italy’s presidency was held in Kyiv on the second anniversary of the Russian invasion. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was also invited to the upcoming summit in Borgo Egnazia.
The reception, which was held on June 4, 2024, concluded with Dzadzo announcing Italy’s commitment to Ukraine’s long-term economic reconstruction by hosting the Ukraine Recovery Conference in 2025. He expressed hope for a swift resolution to the conflict, ensuring a just and lasting peace that respects Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and future security.
