Abu Dhabi, UAE – March 8, 2024 – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) participated in the fourth meeting of the GCC Mineral Resources Committee held yesterday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration and development within the region’s mining and mineral resources sector.
Khalid Al Hosani, Director of the Geology and Mineral Resources Department at the UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, represented the UAE alongside officials from other GCC countries.
Discussions centered on several key areas for collaboration. Identifying opportunities to integrate mineral industry supply chains across the GCC was a major focus. Additionally, the committee explored the creation of a regional map highlighting mineral investment potential. Protecting the geological heritage of the region was also on the agenda.
The meeting provided a platform for member states to share and review mining strategies, promoting best practices and fostering collective development within the GCC’s mineral resources sector.
