ABU DHABI, UAE – UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Erin Gore, CEO of World Central Kitchen (WCK), on Saturday to discuss ways to ramp up humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip.
The leaders explored avenues for stronger collaboration between the UAE and WCK, with a focus on maximizing aid distribution via land, air, and sea routes. Discussions centered around the “Amalthea” initiative, a maritime corridor established to deliver humanitarian supplies to Gaza. The recent arrival of the first ship carrying 200 tons of aid, a joint effort by the UAE, WCK, and Cyprus, was hailed as a success story.
President Sheikh Mohamed commended WCK’s global humanitarian efforts, particularly in crisis-stricken regions. He reaffirmed the UAE’s unwavering commitment to partner with WCK and other organizations to alleviate the suffering of Gazans and provide comprehensive humanitarian support.
Ms. Gore expressed gratitude for Sheikh Mohamed’s leadership and the UAE’s significant role in delivering aid to Gaza. She highlighted the productive cooperation between WCK and the UAE in bringing much-needed assistance to the region.
The meeting, held at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, was attended by prominent UAE officials including Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad, and Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy.
