On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden finally put a stop to months of speculation that he might seek reelection in 2024.
In a little over a three-minute video that began with footage of the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2023, by mostly MAGA members—that is, the supporters of the former US president Donald Trump—Biden spoke of his political plan for 2024.
“Freedom. Personal freedom is fundamental to who we are as Americans. There’s nothing more important. Nothing more sacred. That’s been the work of my first term – to fight for our democracy. To protect our rights. To make sure everyone in this country is treated equally. And that everyone is given a fair shot at making it,” Pre. Biden said.
Aware of the likely outcome of Donald Trump’s declaration to run for president in 2024, Vice President Biden reminded Americans of the need to remain resolute in the fight for the soul of the US.
“When I ran for President 4 years ago, I said we are in the battle for the soul of America, and we still are. This is not a time to be complacent. That’s why I’m running for re-election. I know America. Let’s finish this job. I know we can,” he concluded.
